Does The Aftershave Come in a Different Scent?

This is a question we get asked quite a lot, and the simple answer is: No… for now.

Hunter’s Aftershave Balm for Gentlemen was one of the very first products we made, and like many traditional companies do, I decided to stick to the original scent blend, crafted in 2010.

Why? Well, it’s not just nostalgia - it’s because when I first made it, I was so delighted with the outcome, it stuck.

Rooted in Tradition

There’s a lot to be said for heritage and consistency. If you think about classic brands, who use timeless, instantly recognisable scents, they rarely change their core fragrance.

Why? There’s a good reason for this, which is because scent is so deeply connected to our memory, identity, and familiarity. Recognisable scents can make us feel relaxed and transport us back to happy times in our past.

When I first formulated Hunter’s Aftershave Balm, the goal was to create something that felt quintessentially masculine, elegant, and steeped in tradition, yet fresh enough for the modern man. The scent we landed on, after many trials at the kitchen table, was inspired by a three and a half month stay I had in Provence, a period in my life that in many ways defines the person I am today.

Ironically the scent is not strictly masculine and is also used in Luxury No.1 Whipped Body Butter

Will We Ever Make a Different Scent?

Never say never.

We’re always experimenting, always playing with ideas. But when it comes to Hunter’s Aftershave Balm, we’ll stick with what we’ve got.

That’s not to say we won’t introduce something new in the future. If inspiration strikes in the right way, if we can craft something that carries the same weight, the same sense of timelessness, then yes, maybe.

But it won’t be rushed.

It’ll be something that has to earn its place alongside the original. On that note, I should add that for every scent I try to make, probably only one in ten make it to production. Blending essential oils to a point where I’m truly satisfied is often elusive.

For Now, the Classic Stays

For those who love the signature scent of Hunter’s Aftershave Balm, rest assured - it’s not going anywhere. And for those hoping for a new variation, keep an eye out. When the time is right, we might just have something up our sleeve.

Until then, we’ll keep doing what we do best, making products with integrity, heritage, and a deep respect for tradition.

What’s your take? Should classic scents stay the same, or do you love a fresh twist? Let us know, we’d love to hear your thoughts.
