Is Everything Made in Edinburgh?

Every now and then, we get asked, “Is everything made in Edinburgh?

And the answer is, well, no

All of our products are lovingly made by hand in East Lothian by our in-house team, specifically in Prestonpans, just nine miles from Edinburgh.

If you hop on a train from Waverley, you’ll be there before you’ve even had a chance to finish your cup of tea. So no, our current workshop isn’t tucked away in a mysterious Edinburgh backstreet, but it’s a 12-minute train ride from the city centre.

Why ‘Edinburgh’ Then?

Fair question. The truth is the whole idea for our company was born in Edinburgh. That’s where it all started and where the concept was dreamt up, where our first sales happened in cold, rainy outdoor markets, and where our early customers discovered our products. It felt right to name ourselves after the city that played such a big part in our journey.

The Beauty of Prestonpans

Now, let’s not do Prestonpans a disservice, it’s a place with a rich history of craft, battles and industry. Once famous for its pottery, salt production, and even soap making, it’s the perfect home for what we do.

And while Edinburgh is known for its grand castles and cobbled streets, we like to think that some of the best things come from just outside its city limits, especially when it comes to our skincare.

The Short and Sweet Answer

So, to answer the question properly: No, not everything is made in Edinburgh, but everything is made for Edinburgh, where we have both of our shops and for everywhere else that appreciates high-quality, handmade skincare
